The paper analyses the genesis of the category "the civil society" in the social and political (and namely West-European) ideas' development, the basic prerequisites of the civil society formation in nowadays' Russia, "political and cultural climate" necessary for realisation of the concept of the civil society in the modern Russian conditions. The brief review of the modern theoretical ideas about political and civil culture as indispensable conditions for the process of self-organisation of the civil society has been given as well.

The social and political prerequisites of formation of civil society in Russia
The paper considers the processes of transformation of the social structure of the Russian society, the state of "the middle class" as a social basis of the civil society. The processes of aggregation of social interests and their reflection in forming multi-party political system have been analyzed. The author has pointed out the differentiation of social interests in the Russian society, their instability. This instability has forced the political parties to find their social basis outside the political classes - at the borders of the social structure.

Civil political culture as a premise for formation of modern Russian civil society
On the basis of theoretical analysis of some All-Russian and regional sociological inquiries the paper considers basic specific features of the modern political culture of the Russian society. The necessity to form the civil political culture as a premise for creation of modern Russian civil society has been formulated and proved.

The Russian state and formation of civil society and political culture of public spirit
The problems of philosophy of culture history, in particular, the necessity and role of historical dimension in philosophy of culture have been discussed in the paper. The author bases himself on the conception of philosophy of culture as the history of culture philosophy. Philosophy of the social and historical process can be considered as the only theoretical foundation of the latter. The author's alternative viewpoint of "culturological maximalism" has been critically examined in the paper. The concept is directed toward absorption of all the humanities (including philosophy) by universal culturological knowledge. The limits of genetic research methods applications have been revealed by the author, reasoning from the analysis of subjects' fruitful activities. Another problem to be singled out is the relationship between the history of culture and the total social and historical process in the context of the integrity of a process and its states.

On theoretical sources of forming civil society conception
The origin and development of theoretical concepts of civil society especially as applied to the conditions in Russia has been considered in the paper. The analysis has been carried out basing on a number of works by Western, Russian and American thinkers of the XVII-XIX centuries.
